Son of William and Isabella GRAHAM, Stanhope Street, Woonona, New South Wales

Mr. and Mrs. W. Graham, of Stanhope-street, Woonona, received news that their only son, Private William Graham, has been" killed in action. "  Private  Graham, who was only 22 years of age, was employed in the fitting department ia-t the South Bulli Colliery prior to enlisting.

GRAHAM, - Killd in action 28th August, 1918, Private William Graham (Wid), 30th Battalion, aged 23 years, dearly loved only son of Mr. and Mrs.  W.  Graham, Stanhope-st., Woonona, and beloved brother of Queenie, Dorothy and Coral, and beloved fiancee of Laurie Cameron. Duty done; now peacefully sleeping.

William Graham, named after his father and grandfather, had been in the Citizen Military Forces in Wollongong, NSW for 7 years. He and his friends thought the war would be exciting so they joined up. He was well liked by friends and workmates and his sisters adored their big brother. 

During his time with the AIF he was known as Willie, and according to his platoon sargeant he was a very "conscientious lad who was extremely well liked by the officers, n.c.o's and privates". - W.A Dowd.
