GEOFFREY HUGH MACPHERSON, son of Mr. Donald and Mrs. Emily Florence Macpherson, was born at Bundella on 31st December, 1897. He was educated at Knox College, North Sydney, and joined the service of the Bank at Tamworth on 29th November, 1914.
Enlisting in September, 1915, he embarked in April, 1916, on the “Mackarini” with the 16th Reinforcements of the 3rd Battalion. Joining his unit in France later in the year, he remained with them until his death on 3rd November, 1916, when he was killed by shell-fire while having his lunch with several of his comrades in a dug-out at Flers. He was buried the same afternoon in the Military cemetery at Flers.
