Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Stephen Magee was 19 years of age when his mother died in 1909. He was one of eight children of Thomas and Catherine Magee living in South Melbourne at the time of his death.
Stephen enlisted with his younger brother, 2361 Pte. Henry Vincent Magee 21st Battalion who was killed in action at Pozieres on 29 July 1916, aged 20. Stephen was badly wounded near Mouquet Farm about three weeks later, when shot through the upper thigh. He was evacuated to England for treatment and eventually returned to his unit during January 1917. He was killed at Bullecourt only 5 weeks late.
