Military Cross
'During the attack on Mont St. Quentin, near Peronne, on the 31st August, 1918, the right flank of the battalion was seriously threatened at a time when the front line was thinly held, owing to heavy casualties from intense machine gun and trench mortar fire. Noticing this, without hesitation he led his company over the open ground from the support line in the face of heavy concentrated fire, and reinforced the front line, thus securing the position. His gallantry and coolness was most marked.'
