Leslie Alexander Robert Thomson was born in Fremantle in 1897. He previously served with the 11th AGA. Leslie enlisted at Fremantle on the 20.1.1918, aged 20 years 11 months. He was a salesman and Presbyterian. His mother was Mary Jane Thomson of Thomas St, South Fremantle. He was described as being 5’8” tall, with a chest measurement of 38 inches, fair complexion, hazel eyes and brown hair. His service number was 1461 and he was a Gunner with the 36th Heavy Artillery Group. Leslie embarked on HMAT A30, “Borda” in Sydney on 17.7.18. On the 23.8.18 he was admitted to hospital in Cape Town with influenza, then on the 9.9.18 discharged to AIF Depot the Castle, Cape Town. He continued his journey on the 26.9.18 when he embarked on HMNZ 110, Ruahine. Leslie disembarked in London on the 29.10.18. He served in France between the 21.11.18 and the 26.5.19. On the 12.7.19 he returned to Australia per City of Exeter and was discharged in Perth on the 1.9.19.

Leslie died in Morley on the 14.12.1971, aged 74. He was buried at Karrakatta Cemetery in the General EA portion, grave 0209.
