Hugh SPEDDING was born in Laanecoorie, Victoria in 1889

His parents were James SPEDDING & Catherine Mary FERNESS

He enlisted in Melbourne on 21st July, 1915 and embarked from Melbourne on the HMAT Wiltshire on 7th March, 1916 with the 7th Infantry Battalion, 15th reinforcements

Hugh was Killed in Action in France on 20th August, 1918 - no known grave

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
