Philip Edwin Bartlett SHEPHERD was born in Taree, New South Wales in 1897
His parents were Philip Edward SHEPHERD & Edith BARTLETT who married in NSW in 1896
He had 4 years previous service with the Senior Cadets before he enlisted in Melbourne on 24th March, 1915 and embarked as a Private with the 24th Infantry Battalion, C Company on the ship Euripides on 10th May, 1915 - he was promoted to Sergeant on 1st September, 1915
Philip was Killed in Action at Gallipoli on 29th November, 1915 and was buried in Browns Dip South Cemetery at Gallipoli and later reinterred in Lone Pine Cemetery (Plot 1, Row A, Grave 10)
