Between 10 May 1919 and 14 July 1919 he did a course in practical farming with a Lt. Benest of St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands for which he was paid 6/- a day and was issued with a pair of overalls and a railway warrant to the value of £1/6/5

During 1923c Charles married Alice M. Godden in Chatswood, NSW
