The son of John and Hannah Robertson, 34 Charles Street, South Fremantle, Western Australia.

His older brother, 2717 Lce. Cpl. Frederick Robertson, also in the 11th Battalion AIF, later died of wounds in England on Boxing Day, 1917, aged 25.
