John Joseph BROMILOW was born in Williamstown, Victoria in 1879 to John Joseph BROMILOW (1853-1928) and Elizabeth BROMILOW nee DAVIDSON (1856-1898).

John BROMILOW originally joined the AIF at Adelaide on 11.10.1915 at the age of 38 years and given service number 1845.  He was attached to the 15th reinforcements of the 3rd Lighthorse.  On 09.02.1916, he was medically discharged for poor dental health. Was not deployed during this period. 


He re-enlisted on 04.08.1917 and given service number 21096.   He was attached to the 5th Division Signals Company.  


Pte. BROMILOW was deployed to England on the 28.02.1918 on H.M.A.T A71 Nestor and to France on 29.01.1919.   

He returned to Australia on the 18.08.1919.   He was discharged from the AIF on 10.09.1919.    Interestingly he was only awarded the British War Medal. (no Victory Medal)
