The Minmi Roll of Honour has 79 names inscribed of those who returned home from The Great War.
The 38th name inscribed is Private David James Breeze.
I do not know when David died, or where buried or ashes interred, or if he ever married, so any information would be greatly appreciated.
Private David James Breeze, 1st Australian Pioneer Battalion (Reg No-2071), labourer from Main Street, Minmi, New South Wales and Creek Road, Boolaroo, N.S.W.
Born at Llanidloes, Wales possibly December 1882 to David and Annie Breeze (Smith), David enlisted on the 22nd January 1916, stated age 34 years 1 month, at Newcastle, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A46 Clan MacGillivray on the 3rd May 1916.
Commenced return to Australia 23.5.1917.
David arrived home on the 20th July 1917, being discharged medically unfit (mental condition) on the 23rd October 1917.
Did not serve in a theatre of war, therefore was not granted Victory Medal.
Not officially commemorated.
Mr. Breeze’s name has also been inscribed on the Boolaroo District Pictorial Roll of Honour.
