Son of John Hoyes and Christina Hoyes nee Pickering of Samford Road, Enoggera, QLD. Brother of Harry Hoyes who returned to Australia on 9 October 1919 having served with the 4th Pioneer Battalion.
Husband of Edith Emily Hoyes nee Murr of Graythorne Estate, Enoggera, QLD. Arthur and Edith married on 1 January 1913 in QLD.
Commenced return to Australia on 4 July 1919 aboard HT Wiltshire disembarking on 19 August 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane
