Son of John Benjamin O'Donoghue and Sarah O'Donoghue of Down, Ireland.
Next of kin given as his uncle William Robert Bell of Tower Hill, Newry, County Down, Ireland.
Prior to coming to Australia John was an apprentice motor mechanic with J.B. Ferguson of Belfast, Ireland for eighteen months.
Commenced return to Australia on 18 November 1919 aboard HT Konigin Luise disembarking on 7 February 1920
