William John Thornton (3475) was my Great Grandfather.

His child, Margaret Julia Thornton was born in 1903, 15 when William was KIA 1918.

Margaret was my Grandmother, marrying Eric Neil Edmonds.

Records indicate William shipped to Egypt in 1915 on the HMAT Nestor.
Was hospitalised for injuries and spent time as a Guard for the Hospital in Cairo.

After transferring to the Imperial Camel Corp, eventually was KIA in the battle of Amman in Jordan.

Family Connection (2)

William Thornton was the brother of my grandfather, Patrick Luke Thornton, who also served in the First World War.
