| 12 May 1917: | Honoured Military Medal, Citation reads: s brought to notice for great gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on our line near Hebuterne by the enemy on the morning of the 5th April 1918. He is a runner and volunteered to take an urgent message from the support to the Front Line Company. Despite the heavy barrage that was being put down by the enemy at the time he succeeded in getting the message through in record time. Afterwards he acted as Guide to the Support Company when it was ordered to Close support. He is at all times cheerful and a fine example to his comrades, and is always willing to take messages to any part of the line regardless of fatigue and personal danger.
