Son of John Joseph O'Connell and Alethua Edwina Mercy O'Connell nee Armstong of Freemason's Hotel, Albany, WA.

On the Roll of Honour Circular his sister wrote:-

He was a keen soldier, after being wounded at landing at Gallipoli and sent to Egypt, was very anxious to rejoin his batallion. Second wound or illness caused him to be sent to England. Some months later he died of wounds in France.
