“Fred” Livingston was born in Taraville, Victoria, and was a 38-year-old single Grazier when he enlisted in Kerang on 5 November 1914. Fred was originally allocated to the 10th Reinforcements, 8th Battalion, but on 29 Sep 1915 he transferred to the newly raised 29th Battalion, 8th Brigade, a battalion supported by 18 Coy. Lance Corporal Livingston embarked on the Troopship A11 Ascanius, with D Coy, 29th Battalion, along with a part of 18 Coy AASC, on 10 November 1915. Fred disembarked at Suez on 7 December 1916 and was promoted to Corporal at Ferry Post on 25 April 1916. Fred arrived in France on 23 June and was “Killed in Action” at Fromelles on 19 July 1916.
