Military Medal

'For conspicuous bravery while acting as forward runner during the operations near Dernancourt on 5th April, 1918. This man carried several messages through the very heavy barrage which the enemy had put down just forward of the Albert-Amiens Road. He also went forward during the attack and endeavoured to trace certain lost guns. Although unsuccessful, he brought back valuable information which assisted greatly in determining the disposition of the front troops and guns.'
