OBITUARY. THE LATE MR. GEO. Wheeler
On Tuesday, November 3rd, the funeral of the late Private George (Charles) Wheeler took place and was very largely attended. All arrangements were in the hands of the Narembeen
sub-branch of the R.S.L. and over 20 returned men marched to the cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs. H. McKay, W. Spence, H. Reffell, Butler, J. Nobles and D. Power (all being returned soldiers). Wrapped in the Union Jack and literally covered with wreaths the coffin was borne to the Church of England section of the Narembeen cemetery where Rev A. Curtis officiated at the graveside. Deceased, who was 56 years of age, served with the 44th Battalion in France. For many years he has been farming in the Emu Hill-Narmean district, and was a good supporter of the Emu Hill Parents and Citizens Association, having served for some years as president. He is survived by a widow and four children of school age.
