Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Mrs. Alice Crossley, 1 Oldham Villa, Victoria Park, Dorchester, Dorset, England

Great regret was experienced when it was learned that Mr. Colin Crossley a returned soldier who enlisted from Clare, and who lost his right leg at the memorable landing on Gallipoli, died at the Adelaide Hospital on Tuesday morning as the result of an accident at Mitcham on the previous evening.  The police report that the accident happened at 10 o'clock, when Mr Crossley was riding a motor cycle , attached to which was a sidecar, and proceeding in a westerly direction along Princess Road Mitcham.  When near the Torrens Arms Hotel, at a sharp bend in the road, the rider lost control of the cycle, owing to the foot and hand brakes being defective.  Two young men Messrs. Maurice G Ryan, of 10 Louisa Street, Goodwood and james Siney, of 75 Gray Street Adelaide were in the sidecar.  They cycle struck the kerb on the northern side of the road, ran along the footpath a few yards, and threw the three men into the roadway.  Mr Crossley fell on his head, and was rendered unconcious.  The occupants of the sidecar received slight abrasions.  Mounted Constable Stewart, of Mitcham, warrived about two minutes after the accident.  Dr. A.K. Gault was summoned and the patient was conveyed to the Adelaide Hospital in a Military ambulance, and admitted by Dr. Connell, who state that the victim was suffering fron concussion and other injuries to the head.  Mr. Crossley died at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.  He had been boarding with Mrs. Rose at Thomas Street Unley.  All his relatives are said to reside in England.
