Son of Patrick Joseph O'Donoghue and Bridget Gertrude O'Donoghue nee Lockton of Wagin, WA.

Brother of Philip Vincent O'Donoghue who was killed in action on 2 April 1917 while serving with the 51st Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial; Patrick George O'Donoghue who returned to Australia on 25 August 1915 having served with the 12th Battalion
