Biography contributed by Steve Larkins

4811 Private Percy Geason was the son of   Patrick and Annie Geason of Coleville Tasmania.  He was a 28yo labourer and resident with his sister Mrs C. Volkmer, Hall Street, Merewether, New South Wales when he enlisted in September 1915 initially in the 3rd Battalion.  He subsequebtly transferred to the 55th Battalion in Egypt, part of the newly created the 14th Brigade. and embarked for France with his new unit.

Percy Geason was killed in action at Pozieres, France on 19/20 July 1916. After the war his grave could not be located and he was commemorated on the VC Corner Australian Cemetery Memorial, Fromelles, France. In 2008 a burial ground was located at Pheasant Wood, France containing the bodies of 250 British and Australian soldiers including Pte Arnott. All of the remains were reburied in the newly created Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery. At the time of the official dedication of the new cemetery on 19 July 2010, ninety-six of the Australians, had been identified through a combination of anthropological, archaeological, historical and DNA information.  Percy Geason's reamains were identified in 2011.  Work is continuing on identifying the other remains relocated from the burial ground and buried in the new cemetery as unknown soldiers.
