Son of Edwin Joseph Quarmby and Jane Quarmby nee Lindbeck of 'Sunnyside', Batlow, NSW.
Brother of Norman Lesllie Quarmby (Quamby) who returned to Australia on 11 February 1919 having served with the 1st Light Horse Regiment; Arthur Richard Quarmby who was killed in action on 1 May 1918 while serving with the 1st Light Horse Regiment and has no known grave. His name appears on the Jerusalem Memorial, Panel 58
