Son of Harry ane Emile Florence FYNMORE of Kempsey, Maclay River, NSW

He joined the Bank of NSW staff in 1913, and served at the Head Office until he enlisted during August 1915 in the A.I.F.

Arnold Fynmore served with the 2nd Battalion of the AIF in Egypt and afterwards in Belgium and France. He was made a corporal in September, 1915, and was promoted to sergeant in the following December. He fought in France and took part in the severe battles of Pozieres and Mouquet Farm during July and August, 1916.

While his battalion was holding the line at Flers in October, 1916, Arnold Fynmore joined the Royal Flying Corps and returned to England for training. Appointed 2nd-lieutenant in March, 1917, he took his place in the 21st Squadron of the RFC at La Louie, Belgium, in the following July, and was engaged in observation work for the artillery.

At the end of September, he was transferred to the Home Establishment of the RFC in England, and while there met with a serious accident when his BE2 aircraft stalled on a turn at very low altitude and crashed, which necessitated a stay of twelve months in hospital.

While in hospital he was promoted to 1st lieutenant. After leaving the hospital Lieut. Fynmore was attached to the No. 2 School of Aerial Fighting in Yorkshire, and was engaged there from May 1919, until he was repatriated to Australia.

Mr. H. Finmore, of the Lands Office, has received a cable that his son, Lieut. Arnold Foster Fynmorc, of the Royal Flying Corps, is coming home on furlough. Lieut. Fynmore has now been away for three years, serving both with the 2nd Batt., 1st Aust. Infantry Brigade, and the R.F.C. in Egypt, France, and Flanders. Last year, after returning from Flanders he met with a serious accident while flying in England, which prevented him for the present taking an active part in the war, or rejoining his squadron in Flanders.
