Charles Andrew RIGG was born in Sunbury and went to the Sunbury State School.
He was working as a farm labourer when he joined the AIF on 4/10/1915. His next of kin was his Mother, Mrs Emily Rigg of O'Shannassy Street Sunbury. Charles was 28 years old.
He left Melbourne on 14/3/1916 travelling on the HMAT Anchises and arrived in Egypt on 10/4/1916.
He was admitted to the 3rd Australian General Hospital in Cairo on 25/5/1916 suffering tonsillitis and diphtheria and died on 1/6/16 at 12.15pm of uraemic convulsions.
He was buried the same day at the Cairo War Cemetery.
