Son of Samuel Thomas Burford and Mary Alice (nee Metcalf) Burford of Hastings Street, Glenelg, SA formerly of Pinnaroo, SA; brother of Charles Booth Burford, Rita Alice Burford, Joseph Edward Burford, Stella Mary Burford, Elsie May Burford, Annie Mercia Burford, John George Burford, Gladstone Clarence Burford, Robert Samuel Burford and Ronald William Burford

20 May 1919  commenced return to Australia on board HT Nestor disembarking on the 26 June 1919

Medals : British War Medal, Victory Medal

On 23 April 1924 he married Vera Gladys Stacey in the Baptist Church, Norwood, SA. Vera died in 1945. He later married May Edna Burford

At the time of death he was residing at Marden
