Edward Kingston GARRATT was born in 1893 in Glebe, Sydney NSW
His parents were Samuel Wyatt GARRATT and Elizabeth ELLIS
He enlisted with the 18th battalion as a Private in 1915
Unit embarked from Sydney on HMAT Aeneas 20th December, 1915
Edward was Killed in Action on 9th April, 1918 in France
Buried Villers Bretonneux Military Cemetery, France

After 2 and a half years active service, Lance Corporal E K Garratt 18th Battalion beloved son of Mr. & Mrs. S Garratt (late of Lewisham) dearly loved brother of Mrs. A Stoneham of Addison Rd Manly and Mrs. R. Harigold of 91 Quarry St Ultimo, also brother of Sam, Percy & William Garratt
He bravely answered dutys call
He gave his life for one and all
His unknown grave is the bitterest blow
That only those who loved him know
