Previously he had enlisted on two occasions both times being discharged after a short time as it was doubltful if he would make a suitable soldier
Commenced return to Australia on 1 July 1919 aboard Frankfurt disembarking on 20 August 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
