Austin Bede PRATT was born in Rous, Casino, NSW on 16th August, 1894

His parents were George PRATT & Eleanor Margaret BOYD who married in Casino in 1875

He had previous service of 1 year in the Senior Cadets and 2 years & 2 months in the Citizens Forces before he enlisted in Casino on 26th August, 1914 & embarked from Brisbane, Queensland on the ship Omrah on 24th September, 1914 with the 9th Infantry Battalion (F Company)

He was wounded twice & also suffered from illness and was returned to Australia on 8th April, 1917 & discharged as medically unfit on 17th July, 1917 due to severe rheumatism.

Austin married Elizabeth SCOTT in Casino in 1922 and had one known child who was only a baby when he died

He died suddenly on 6th April, 1924 in Casino due to heart failure which was said at the time to be related to his war service - he is buried in the Roman Catholic Section of the Casino General Cemetery
