Charles Davenport COWAN was born on 2nd November, 1895 in Doutta Galla near Ascot Vale in Victoria

His parents were Joseph Charles Martin COWAN & Florence DAVENPORT

He was Killed in Action at Guedecourt in France on 6th November, 1916 by a sniper after trying to rescue a wounded comrade

He was recommended for a Military Medal but it was not awarded

His brother Harry Kennett COWAN (SN 14) died of wounds on 4th October, 1917 - he was awarded the Military Medal

Another brother Arthur Learmonth COWAN (SN V306155) served during WW2 and was discharged on 19th September, 1945
