FAREWELL SOCIAL
Thursday
A very pleasant time was spent in the Myrtle Bank haIl on Wednesday night, when a farewell social was given to Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Skemp, who are leaving for New Zealand early next month. The large attendance-(in spite of the threatening weather) which culminated in heavy rain before the evening was over), testified to the popularity of the departing guests. Mr. Alexander, on behalf of the residents of the district, presented Mr. and Mrs. Skemp with a lovely travelling rug, and In a happy little speech wished them bon voyage. Mr. Les Skemp suitably responded, and 'For they are jolly good fellows' was heartily sung by all present. Dancing was kept up till midnight, when a dainty supper, provided by the ladies of the district, was handed round. Songs were contributed during the evening by Mrs. Cairns, Miss Burns and Messrs Rowland and Leslie Skemp, which were much appreciated The music for the dancing was supplied by Mr. W. Burns and Mr. Vernon Tole was M.C.
