 Mention in Dispatches - Recommendation

At PETILLON on 19/20th. July 1916, this man took his gun into action and worked in the coolest manner possible while covering the retirement of the infantry. He carried the gun into action and although wounded, stopped twice and opened fire.

On reaching our parapet he again set up his gun unaided and continued to fire on the enemy until killed. He was a noble example to the men of his unit.

Signed.

Brigadier General.

E. Tivey

Commanding 8th Infantry Brigade.
