Died on this date – 24th October…… Cyril Hastings Bacon was born in 1894 at Waverley, Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 5th November, 1914 as a 22 year old, single, Grazier from Warrigal Club, Sydney, NSW.
Trooper Cyril Bacon embarked from Sydney, NSW on HMAT Suevic (A29) on 21st December, 1914 with the 2nd Light Horse Brigade, 6th Light Horse Regiment “B” Squadron.

He proceeded from Alexandria on 15th May, 1915 to join M. E. F. (Mediterranean Expeditionary Force) at Gallipoli on HMT Lutzow.

On 10th August, 1915 Trooper Bacon was sent sick to No. 2 Field Ambulance at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli with Appendicitis. He was transferred to Hospital Carrier Georgian on 11th August, 1915 then transferred to Hospital Ship Aquitania on 14th August, 1915.

He was admitted to 4th London General Hospital at Denmark Hill, England on 23rd August, 1915 then transferred to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, London, England on 25th August, 1915 with Dysentery.

Trooper Cyril Hastings Bacon died on 24th October, 1915 at Duchess Home, Beaumont St off Weymouth, London, England after an operation for appendicitis.
He was buried in Wandsworth (Earlsfield) Cemetery, London, England where 34 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.
