Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Robert was the son of Henry and Kate Parsons of Sydney NSW. On his roll of honour form his father stated Robert was the brother to 3 others in the AIF. They were John, William and Samuel Parsons, who all returned.

Robert died near Broodseinde in Belgium when he was hit by a machine gun bullet during an advance. His brother John Parsons was in the same 9th platoon of C Company, 3rd Battalion and was present when he died and was buried on the battlefield. Another soldier stated the “two brothers were very attached to each other”. John wrote to his family and gave them the details of Robert’s death.

The brothers also had three first cousins killed during the war.
