"...2563 Private George Raphael Burnard Adams... 20th Battalion, of Tumbarumba, NSW. George, a butcher, enlisted on 5 August 1915, and embarked with the 6th Reinforcements from Sydney onboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November. Arrived in France for service on the Western Front on 25 March 1916. The brothers took part in the Battle of Pozieres and 2562 Pte John Adams was killed in action on 26 July 1916, aged 23 years. Pte George Adams was awarded the Military Medal (MM) on 16 August 1916 for "conspicuous and continued bravery" at Pozieres. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal (Cpl) on 1 December 1916 and Sergeant (Sgt) on 7 July 1918. On 8 July 1918 he was wounded in action in France. Military Medal Recommendation dated 18/9/1916

For gallantry during operations at Pozieres on 27/7/1916. Cpl George Adams showed conspicuous and continued bravery through the the whole action.  When bombs ran out he went back and led up fresh bombers into the position, and reorganised the chain of supply of bombs. When the fresh bombers arrived he had been through for two hours regardles of his personal safety.
