Pte Wilhelm NOFFKE
From 49th Battalion AIF
Wilhelm NOFFKE (6817) was a 2 year old single labourer who enlisted in Brisbane, Queensland on 17 February 1917. He listed as his next of kin, his Mother, Mrs Hermine Augusta Henrietta Noffke, Buccan Beaudesert Line, Queensland. He was born in Waterford, Queensland. NOFFKE embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A29 Suevic on 21 June 1917 and disembarked in Liverpool, England on 26 August 1917 as a member of the 20th Battalion, 20th Reinforcement. He transferred to the 49th Battalion on 16 May 1918 after the 52nd Battalion was disbanded. He was granted leave during several periods between May and July 1919 to attend Fruit Growing at Branden, Suffolk, England. He returned to Australia 6 September 1919.

Logan Village Museum
William as he was known was born on the 31st March 1895 at Buccan which is near Logan Village. He died in 1924 and is buried in the Woodhill Cemetery.
His parents were Albert Carl and Hermine Auguste Henrietta nee Raddatz.
He is listed on the Logan Village Nominal Roll and also in the Museum as he is a member of the pioneer family of "Noffke"
