Son of Charles Vockler and Henretta Janet Vockler nee Campbell of Yarra Street, Abbotsford, Victoria.
Brother of John Thomas Vockler who returned to Australia on 1 February 1919 having served with the 18th Battalion.
On 7 April 1919 William married Gladys Gwendoline Davies in St. James Parich Church, Bath, Somerset, England.
Commenced return to Australia on 23 July 1919 aboard HT Canberra disembarking on 14 September 1919
