Husband of Agnes O'Leary nee Stanley of George Street, Parkside, SA. John and Agnes married on 8 June 1916 in St Paul Church, Adelaide, SA

Commenced return to Australia for urgent family reasons,  following the death of his wife and no one to care for his children, on 4 May 1917 aboard HT Miltiades disembarking on 1 July 1917
