Distinguished Conduct Medal Citation

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations of 24-25 July. He was seriously wounded in the head and both thighs during the operation, and suffered great pain' notwithstanding that, he remained at his gun, and directed his fire at the enemy until he became exhausted. The courage and determination of this N.C.O. without a doubt, greatly assisted the operation.
