Husband of Elvie Ivy May Bennett, Rocks, New Norfolk, Tasmania

The death occurred at New Norfolk yesterday, at the age of 49 years of Mr Malcolm Bennett. Mr Bennett, who was the son of Mr R. Bennett, of Oatlands, was third senior officer at Lachlan Park  Hospital, New Norfolk. Mr Bennett joined the hospital staff in 1914. He saw three years' active service in the First World War, and rejoined the hospital staff after his return. By faithful service and a high sense of duty he gained the respect of every member of the hospital staff and was one of the youngest officers. He was a former committeeman of the New Norfolk branch of the Hospital Employees' Federation, and took a prominent part in the improvement of working conditions for the staff. He was keenly interested in sport, particularly in racing. He was a member of the Derwent Valley sub-branch of the RSL.  He had been in ill-hèalth for some time. He leaves a wife. The funeral will take place at New Norfolk this afternoon.
