Percy David MANSFIELD was born in Bulla in 1896.

His family moved to the Alexandra area of Victoria where they farmed.Percy joined the AIF on 5/8/1915 in Melbourne. He embarked for overseas on 29/12/1915 abourd HMAT Demosthenes as part of the 7th Battalion.

In Egypt the Battalion was split to form at 59th Battalion but Percy was retained in the 7th Battalion.

The Battalion arrived in France on 31/3/1916 and they were stationed near Bailleul.They first went into the front line on 13 /5/16 near Fleubaix. The Battalion then fought at Pozieres in both battles and on 19/8/1916 during 2nd Pozieres that Percy was killed. He was buried on the battlefield, and his grave was not found until 1933 when he was moved to the Serre Road Cemetery No.2, Beaumont-Hamel.
