An article in the Bendigo Advertiser on September 30, 1916 headlined with
'A LOYAL FAMILY. SIX SONS FOR THE COLORS'.
The eldest son was Private HENRY POCOCK. SN 1806
Wounded in France.
Of these, Private Henry Pocock, aged 20, and single, was the first, to enlist at the very commencement of the War. He volunteered in August, 1914 and left, with
the 14th Battalion, which did its duty so well on Gallipoli. Private Pocock was fortunate in coming through thai campaign unwounded. Still with his battalion which subsequently went to France, he took
part in the severe fighting there, and was not so fortunate this time, being wounded. Prior to enlisting, Private Henry Pocock was employed by Mr. T. R, Clark of Derby.
NB. Thos. Henry enlisted as William L Pocock.
