Son of Peter O'Mahoney and Margaret (Maggie) O'Mahoney nee Walters of 'Stoneleigh', Campbell Street, Bowen Hills, QLD.
On 30 June 1915 John had enlisted but was discharged as medically unfit after a short time. No number was allocated.
Commenced return to Australia on 18 July 1919 aboard HT Takada disembarking on 7 September 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
