He and his brother, Wallace Moncrief Black (Service No. 7451) survived the Great War, but brothers Trooper Douglas Bruce Black and Corporal Robert Livingstone Conning Black did not.
They were sons of Thomas Montgomery Black and Margaret Helen Black, of Pakenham, Upper Victoria, Australia.
