'During the attack on LAGINCOURT on the morning of the 26th March 1917 just before entering the Village a Machine Gun held the Company up, this man rushed the gun killing one of the crew ith a bomb and bayoneted two. The remainder cleared with the gun leaving the trench clear. Continuing through the village Sergeant ARMSTRONG rallied his men in a splendid manner and by his example kept them cool athough exposed to considerable sniping from Rifles and Machine Guns.'
