Biography

"...2748 Private George Tennyson Marlow, 21st Battalion and later 2nd Brigade Trench Mortar Battery. Pte Marlow enlisted on 12 June 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard the RMS Moldavia on 15 October 1915. After service in France and Belgium he was promoted to Corporal and died of wounds on 21 September 1917. Five brothers, all farmers, enlisted from the Marlow family of Mologa Victoria with only two surviving the war. The other four were: 2123 Private (Pte) Charles Edward Marlow, 38th Battalion killed in action on 26 April 1918; Lieutenant Allan Sharp Marlow who returned to Australia on 19 August 1919; 119 Pte Percy Place Marlow, 38th Battalion, who returned to Australia on 27 May 1919 and 2363 Pte Albert Wilfred Marlow, 38th Battalion who was killed in action at Messines, Belgium on 17 July 1917.
