Harold Preston service no. 2871
Born Harold Preston to Hannah Preston and Alfred Bowman at St Albans NSW. Actual location is Melon Creek at the home of Hannah Prestons father and mother George and Mary Preston.
Information given about parentage at enlistment, marriage and even death certificate (NSW BDM) have the grandparents George and Mary given as parents which is totally incorrect. Harold didn't know of his actual parents until enlistment but throughout his life he never acknowleged his mother as anything but a "big sister".
