Son of Frederick Ashley Vidler and Jane Vidler nee Haydon of Tweed River, NSW formerly of Berry, NSW and later of Chillingham, NSW.
Brother of Frederick Cecil Vidler who was killed in action on 12 October 1917 while serving with the 47th Battalion and is buried in the Buttes New British Cemetery, Plot V, Row C, Grave 18
Commenced return to Australia on 13 February 1917 aboard Ht Ulysses disembarking on 17 April 1917
