31 Mar 1917: | Honoured Military Medal, The Outpost Villages - German Withdrawal to Hindenburg Line, For conspicuous gallantry near Warlencourt on 2 March 1917 in taking charge of an assault on Malt Trench after all Officers and NCOs were casualties. Showing great dash and courage he lead a second assault on a portion of Malt Trench driving the enemy into the open. He then directed a Lewis Gun with telling effect on the retreating enemy. 22 dead Bosche were later found in the area. | |
