Son of William Henry Vowles and Catherine Mary Vowles nee Slade of Kirkellen Street, North Rockhampton, QLD.

Brother of William Henry Vowles returned to Australia on 21 December 1918 after ther troopship was recalled.

Commenced return to Australia on 12 June 1919 aboard HT Themistocles disembarking on 10 August 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane

Medals: British War Medals, Victory Medal

On 17 May 1934 Lester married Lillie Mann in QLD.
